The Capistrano Unified School District is committed to the identification and provision of a free appropriate public education for students with special needs in the least restrictive environment with access to the regular education curriculum. Services and placements are based on each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Types of services and programs considered by IEP teams may include speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, resource specialist programs, and special day classes. When possible students attend their school of residence, however, students in special day classes may need to attend a nearby school.
Parents are encouraged to contact their school principal if they feel their child needs to be assessed for special education or if they need more information on special education programs.
