Dear CUSD Families:

The Capistrano Unified School District has remaining funds in CFD 87-1 and is seeking to utilize these funds. These remaining funds can only be utilized in the cities of Mission Viejo and Aliso Viejo and the District has collaborated with City Staff and Elected Officials to build a plan that would make the greatest impact on student learning and safety and meet the highest qualifications for matching state funds.

Through this collaboration, we developed a plan to utilize the remaining CFD 87-1 funds to construct STEM Classroom Buildings at Aliso Niguel High School and Newhart Middle School. Both Mission Viejo and Aliso Viejo City Councils passed unanimous resolutions in support of these projects and our Board is poised to review these plans at September 13, 2017, Capistrano Unified Board of Trustee meeting.

Unanimously Passed Update: Unanimously Passed at the September 13, 2017, Board Meeting.

Our Board of Trustees has invited the community to submit written feedback regarding the plans to construct STEM Classroom Buildings at Aliso Niguel High School and Newhart Middle School. For your convenience, we have included a link to a Google doc that you can use to provide feedback. All submissions will be compiled and shared with our Board prior to the September 13, 2017, meeting.

The deadline to submit your written feedback using this form is Friday, September 8, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. You can also email Board members directly or participate in our public Board meeting on September 13, 2017, at 7:00 p.m.

We appreciate your time and your willingness to engage with us in this important work.

Thank you,

Ryan Burris
