Capistrano Unified School District Board of Trustees Appoints Chief Technology Officer and Esencia K-8 School Principal

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO - The Capistrano Unified School District is pleased to announce the promotion of two of its employees:

Jeremy Davis:  The CUSD Board of Trustees has appointed Jeremy Davis as Chief Technology Officer.  For the past three years Mr. Davis has served in Technology and Information Services as both a Director and Interim Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Davis has demonstrated his leadership capabilities by providing direction to Technology and Information Services staff while providing vision and guidance at all levels of District leadership for technology planning and integration.

Prior to joining the District, Mr. Davis served as the Instructional Technology Coordinator for Anaheim City School District.  In this role, he designed and conducted technology professional development for teachers and administrators, supervised Technology and Information Services staff, presented new technologies and planning to leadership and the School Board, and assisted with Common Core unit development.

Mr. Davis has also been a member of the District’s Educational Leadership Committee and currently serves as an instructor for both the Orange County Department of Education and the Chief Technology Officer Certification Program, CETPA/FCMAT/CCSESA.  His appointment to Chief Technology Officer is effective October 13, 2016.

Joshua Wellikson:  The Board of Trustees also appointed Joshua Wellikson as Principal Esencia K-8 School.  Esencia K-8 will open in the 2018-2019 school year with Mr. Wellikson officially taking his role as Principal in January 2018.  Mr. Wellikson has held several appointments within Capistrano Unified School District prior to this new role.  He was a teacher at Niguel Hills Middle School before moving into site administration as a Secondary Teaching Assistant Principal and then serving as both a Middle School Assistant Principal and Principal.  Mr. Wellikson has served in his current position as the Principal of Don Juan Avila Middle School for the past four years.

Mr. Wellikson’s experiences and skill set, along with his background in the Professional Learning Community and his vision and passion for student learning have provided him a solid foundation and prepared him for the position of Principal, K-8.
