SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO --- The Capistrano Unified School District Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the re-election of President Amy Hanacek, Vice President Jim Reardon and Trustee Gary Pritchard. We would also like to welcome Patricia Holloway as our newest Trustee.
“We are excited to welcome Patricia Holloway to the Board,” said President Hanacek, who was reelected, retaining her seat in Trustee Area 1. "We're able to retain the wisdom and experience of the Board members, while adding a fresh perspective for the needs of our School District.”
Incumbents Jim Reardon, Trustee Area 2 and Gary Pritchard, Trustee Area 5 were both reelected. Newcomer Patricia Holloway was elected in Trustee Area 3, filling the vacancy created by outgoing Trustee John Alpay.
During the November 16, 2016 Board meeting, President Hanacek praised Trustee Alpay for his work during his two terms on the Board. “Upon his appointment to this Board, he helped restore stability and maintain focus on college and career programs within the District. John helped create the Mandarin Immersion Program and was an advocate for quality education with fiscal responsibility, accountability and transparency.”
Patricia Holloway, a San Clemente resident, substitute teacher and former PTA President, says she is honored by her new role. “I want to continue to strengthen our schools, build trust between our community and the District, and be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars. Increasing transparency and local input regarding the decision-making, budgets and finance is a top priority.”
The Trustees will be sworn in and assume office at our next meeting on December 14, 2016. The Tesoro High School String Quartet will be performing holiday music beginning at 6:30 p.m. The public is always welcome to attend and participate in our meetings.
