John Misustin Appointed Principal Of Capistrano Valley High School

TRUSTEES APPOINT MISUSTIN AT JULY 26 MEETING

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA. –  The Capistrano Unified School District Board of Trustees appointed John Misustin Principal of Capistrano Valley High School, effective August 1, 2017.

As former Assistant Principal at Capistrano Valley High School, Misustin was promoted to Principal of Capistrano Valley High School at the Board’s July 26 meeting.  Misustin replaces Joshua Hill, who was recently appointed District Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum and Instruction grades 6-12, K-8, Alternative Education.

“I do not take the title nor the responsibility of being your Principal lightly. CVHS has a tremendous history of amazing leaders, not the least of which being Mr. Hill,” stated Misustin.  “As we embark on celebrating the 40th anniversary of Capistrano Valley High School, I am so excited to not only honor and  look back all of the tremendous people, accomplishments, and history; but to also look forward and continue our work together to plan and shape the future of our students at Capo Valley.”

Misustin is a career educator with a breadth of experience at all levels of teaching and administration.  During the past two years as Assistant Principal at Capistrano Valley High School, he has led a site comprehensive guidance program, designed new initiatives to improve college and career readiness and implemented a campus-wide technology plan.  Previously, he served as Director of Student Activities at Saddleback Valley Unified School District and was the Assistant Principal at Antelope Valley Union High School District for three years.

“John loves Capo Valley and considers it his home,” former Principal Josh Hill said.  It has been his goal to become a high school principal, and I had the benefit of seeing him in action, to talk with him behind closed doors, and to observe how he handles situations to the effect that I know he is ready for this opportunity. “

Misustin’s background has provided him with valuable experience in management, oversight, and leadership of nearly all aspects of a school.  His appointment is effective August 1, 2017.
